Becoming a member of the Society of the Great War means more than tracing your lineage—it means actively preserving the memory of those who served during one of history’s most pivotal moments. Whether your ancestor fought on the front lines or supported the effort from home, your membership ensures their story is remembered, recorded, and recognized.
Who Can Join?
Membership is open any individual who can trace direct lineage to anyone who contributed to the American World War I effort between 1917 and 1919, including:
– U.S. military personnel (Army, Navy, Marines, etc.)
– Red Cross, YMCA, or Salvation Army volunteers
– Liberty Bond campaigners
– Medical workers and nurses
– Industrial or agricultural workers mobilized for the war effort
– Civic leaders or community organizers supporting the cause

Annual Membership: $65
Your annual dues support the Society’s mission to document, preserve, and promote the legacies of America’s World War I participants. Funds go toward research initiatives, digital preservation, educational outreach, and our member recognition programs.
